Is it too early to think about spring and all its fresh abundance? I think not and so I had to begin with this pretty bracelet with its elegant old Navajo focal charm displaying the wonderful imaginative craftsmanship of its maker. The large turquoise stone is a lovely blue green color and the elaborate sterling silver scrolls speak for themselves. It is unsigned in the old way of the 1930s when the Navajo craftsmen seldom left a maker’s mark. Flanking the focal charm are 2 brushed sterling crosses with stamped designs and small turquoise stones, both made by Tim Yazzie. Then there are 4 old Navajo charms, one with lettering but it is too hard to read, and all are sterling silver with individualistic setting designs and varying colors of turquoise stones, There are also 4 vintage sterling concho charms with little turquoise stones and little turquoise dangles, and 4 chrysoprase nugget charms. This bracelet has a slightly rustic feeling, with irregular hand cut chrysoprase slices in the band and in the nugget charms. The 2 large square sterling beads around the focal charm are bold and unusual, and add to the bracelet’s organic character. This bracelet has a wearable length of about 7.5″ to 8″, and the sterling toggle clasp has a nice pattern on both sides.
